We love Chelsea’s winery wedding, filled with friends, family and wine tasting! Chelsea took some time to answer these questions for us….
1. What venue did you use for your wedding?
Bill and I chose Mallow Run Winery in Bargersville, Indiana for our wedding and reception venue. It is a locally owned and operated winery and vineyard approximately 20 miles south of Indianapolis. The tasting room is housed in a renovated barn from the 1800’s. The family that owns the winery lives on the property and also farms the remaining acreage surrounding the vineyards. It is a fantastic place to visit for a great glass of wine and they offer live music regularly.
2. What is the back story of how you chose this venue for your wedding?
We had decided that we wanted to have a casual, outdoor ceremony and reception that would allow our guests to relax and enjoy the evening. Mallow Run was the perfect choice for us because it provided indoor and outdoor seating, our guests could walk the grounds and enjoy the vineyard as well as the winery itself, and it was equipped to have a band play outside (which was one of our must-haves). The fact that the winery was a family- run business was also great.
Bill and I enjoy having a glass of wine while we make dinner in the kitchen and talk about the day. Having our wedding at the winery seemed liked a perfect way to treat our guests as well as incorporate a bit of our personality as a couple. We also loved the fact that the grounds and tasting room were so lovely, which gave us little need for extra decorations.
3. How did you meet your fiance?
Bill and I had known each other for a long time but had become close friends only over the last few years. Our relationship grew out of a great friendship and I am thrilled to say that my husband is also my best friend.
4. Is there anything you can point out about your pictures that we might not have noticed?
Our photographer, Natalie, was wonderful! She did a great job of capturing our “big day” as it was happening as well as providing us with some beautiful portraits. I love that she incorporated the quilts that we used for “picnic style” seating during our ceremony into some of the photos. The photograph of our feet was actually taken on a Wedding Ring quilt—cute!
5. What was your favorite part of the day?
It is incredibly difficult to try to narrow down just one part of the day as my favorite! So, here are a few:
I really enjoyed taking pictures before the ceremony began. I know that might sound strange, but it gave us a chance to talk and relax a little bit together before the ceremony in front of all of our guests.
It was wonderful to greet our guests with my husband’s hand in mine.
I loved seeing all of the planning and preparations come together beautifully. We had made everything from the flower arrangements to the serving platters and everything in between. It had been a lot of work but it was worth it. The band was great and (as far as we know J) everything went exactly as planned.
I will never forget holding Bill’s hand while he read his vows to me. Seeing the tears in his eyes and hearing the emotion in his voice is something that I will carry with me forever.
